And Then Came the Rain – Skyline vs. Bowie
After roughly an 80 minute rain delay, the stage was set for what would result in an explosive Friday night match-up between the Skyline Raiders and Arlington Bowie Vols. Featuring some of the DFW’s most highly touted recruits, this one did not disapoint. In a high tempo first quarter, the Vols offensive unit led by senior QB Deric Davis, had things working early. On their first drive of the night, the Vols marched down the field and capped off their drive with a Deric Davis TD pass to Cameron White. Answering back, the Skyline Raiders took control on offense and with 4:38 left in the first quarter, RB Tony Drake (Michigan commit), punched the ball in on a short goal line run. At the end of the first quarter the Vols led Skyline 14-7. It wasn’t until late in the 2nd quarter that dangerous Skyline wide receiver, Mike Davis (LSU commit), suddenly awoke, catching a TD pass from Javia Hall (UNT commit) that knotted up the game 14-14 with 4:45 left in the half. After a Vols field goal by Steven Valdez, it was once again Mike Davis’ turn as he pulled in his second of three total TD catches on the night with 0:08 on the clock, putting Skyline up 21-17. And then came the second half and the rain, setting the stage for one of those classic football movie scenes that we have all come to love. The rain seemed to contain both offenses as they made adjustments to contend with the elements throughout the second half. The Skyline defense powered by Domonique Patterson (A&M commit), Corey Nelson (A&M commit) Adrian James (UTEP commit) and Rodney Williams (Houston commit); however, held things down for the Raiders and allowed a methodical Skyline offense to control the remainder of the game as the they went on to win 35 to 27 over the Vols.

Gray will be a Longhorn!
