Battle of the Beltline!
Cedar Hill beat DeSoto this Saturday 44-41 in a highly anticipated matchup that featured some of the DFW areas most exciting recruits. Stuffed to the gills with Division 1 prospects such as Ryan Polite, Marcus Murphy, Evan Washington (LSU commit) and Darius Terrell (Texas commit), DeSoto’s offense appeared to be an unstoppable machine. DeSoto started the game on all cylinders offensively putting up 28 points in the first quarter alone and scoring on their first four drives. Adding to Cedar Hill’s trepidation, star running back Ben Malena (A&M commit) went down in the first quarter with an ankle sprain and never returned. The true story; however, was the play of back-up running back, Mason Hayes who stepped in nicely for the injured Malena and ripped off 140 yards on 20 rushes. Despite giving up 458 yards to DeSoto’s offense, Cedar Hill’s defense over came what seemed to be first game jitters to keep their team in the game when it really mattered. Cedar Hill’s defensive unit came alive in the second quarter holding DeSoto scoreless through the remainder of the first half. Cedar Hill hit their stride offensively in the second quarter as well, cutting DeSoto’s lead to 14. By the start of the third quarter the Longhorns took their first lead of the game 34-28. Although DeSoto briefly regained the lead one more time, they could not overcome a gelling Cedar Hill attack as the Longhorns went on to win 44-41 in what truly was a “clash of the titans.”

Gray will be a Longhorn!
