EAST TEXAS – Longview HS takes on John Tyler HS…
When the Longview Lobos (1-0) take the field tomorrow night, it won’t be against a weaker opponent by no means. The John Tyer Lions (0-1) are coming off a tough loss against the Lufkin Panthers. A last second field goal, gave the Panthers a 17-14 win. Tomorrow’s east Texas showdown, between the two premier powerhouses will be worth admission. “All our games are big,” said Lobo coach John King. “We take’em one at a time. No single game will make or break our season, but it is important we improve each week. King tells nextlevelathlete.com JT will be no walk in the park, “JT is very athletic on both sides of the ball. Playing a lot of young kids that are only going to get better as the season goes on.” The Lions have a couple DI commits in SS Chris Hackett and QB David Bush, both to TCU. Bush, the converted QB finished the ’09 season 12-368 recieving the ball and 42-368 rushing the ball. King adds, “all 11 guys on the field must play hard for 48 minutes for the Lobos to pull out the win,” Derek (Rush) always has his kids ready and they play hard for him.” Against the Marshall Mavericks the Lobos were able to control the clock and move the ball. The same game plan will be in effect against JT. “We have to play good defense and control the ball on offense,” explained King. JT moves down to 4A and Longview up to 5A. While JT looks for it’s first win of the season, Longview wants to keep the victories beside it’s name.
