Little Elm vs Witchita Falls recap…
For the first three minutes of last night’s game between Little Elm and Wichita Falls, it looked like the Coyotes would run the Lobos out of town, and out of the playoff race early. But, after re-grouping, the Lobos put things together to tie the score at 21 right before the half. With it being a brand new game, the Lobos rode the legs of quarterback Devonte Pullum and running back Matt Marrs en route to a 59-35 win over the Coyotes at Memorial Stadium. “I said this week that the team that make the least amount of mistakes would win this game. Our team is a bunch of fighters and I’m proud of them. The ball just didn’t bounce our way tonight. I know our team will show up on Monday, ready to go to work and get after Lake Dallas,” Wichita Falls head coach Jayson Lavender said following the game. Going into the game, the task for the Coyote defensive unit was to keep the Lobo quarterback Pullum at bay. He showed what a special athlete he is, as he rushed for 139 yards and passed for 153. Marrs finished the night with 177 yards and three touchdowns. Both Pullum and Marrs had twenty-one carries. For the Coyotes, their quarterback, Dylan Sheffield, finished the night with 356 passing yards and three touchdowns. He completed passes to five different receivers. But an early interception in the end zone kept the Coyotes off the board and gave Little Elm some momentum. The win puts the Lobos at 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the district. The Coyotes fall to 2-5 and 1-2 in the district. It looks like the Coyotes must win two of their last three to be in the discussion for the playoffs, and that looks to be a tall order. The Coyotes are at Lake Dallas, home for Denton Ryan, and then are the visiting team in the season finale against their cross-town rival, Rider.
