Jacksonville vs. Gilmer Preview…
The Jacksonville Indians (1-1) are preparing to take on the Gilmer Buckeyes (1-1)
tomorrow night. The Buckeyes are coming off a tough loss to Tatum, whick broke the
defending state champs 34-game home winning streak. Coach Jeff Traylor (Gilmer)
doesn’t see the loss as a setback, but instead motivation. Coach Taylor will have
his squad ready to play. The Buckeyes rarely loose one game at home, let alone back
to back games.
Their opponents (Indians) are coming off a win against Texas High where it’s
district MVP, QB Ryan Black went 8 of 10 for 131 yards. Black will head an offense
that premiers WR Tradarreon Moreland (6-5, 210). It’s no secret that the Indians
main focus is to keep Gilmer’s high powered offense off the field. Gilmer may not
have as many offensive weapons as the ’09 season, but they are stacked at key
positions. RB Gus Johnson is one of the best kept secrets in the Texas, every time
this dynamic back touches the ball he puts in work. QB Luke Turner (6-1, 200) shows
incredible accuracy and leadership. Not to mention it helps having an offensive line
lead by Michael Boddie (6-5, 265) who is heading to Univ. of Houston next season. So
who will get their 2nd win of the season? This game will be a dandy for all
spectators.
Game is set to start @ 7:30 Buckeye Stadium
