Longview keeps district tite hopes alive…
The Longview Lobos (5-4, 3,1) survive in a close one against the Robert E. Lee
Raiders (1-8,1-3). Tonight’s spectators at Lobo Stadium were on sight to see an
impressive defensive performance on both sides of the football. In the 4th Lobo head
coach John King decided to pound the ball down the field. LaDarrin Robertson and
J’Haston Faggans on eight plays straight carried the team on their backs during a
60-yard drive. It proved to be just what the doctor ordered. The speed by Faggans
and power running by Robertson were too much for the Raiders defense 28-17.
Robertson was 6-for-9 for 91 yards in the first half while J’Haston Faggans had 51
yards rushing on 11 carries. Faggans finished with 82 yards on 18 carries. Lee’s
biggest play of the game came in the opening drive of the 2nd half. With the score
14-3 to Raiders motivated by a chilling halftime speech…drove the ball down the
field and an impressive 17-yard scramble, by LaQuintas Wallace to put the score
14-10. Wallace said to be one of the best sophomore running back’s in Texas. He was
held to 55 yards on just 20 carries. The Lobos clinch a playoff spot, while the
Raiders continue to search for their 1st district win.
