Lousy day in Lobo Land… 28 home game winning streak is snapped.
When the Longview Lobos play at Lobo stadium, they are pretty much unstoppable. On the 2nd play from the line of scrimmage, WR Eric Hawkins went 90 yards for a touchdown, giving the Lobo’s a 7-0 lead. Then the John Tyer Lions scored on back to back TD’s to go up 24-7 as WR Devonte Haggerty found the end-zone twice for the Lions. With great protection all night long, JTHS QB David Bush was 12-21 for 193 yards on the night. After Longview QB LaDarrin Robertson left the game with an injury, the Lobos never got it’s offense in a flow… turning the ball over four times. JT’s defensive back, Tristan Wade, picked off the Lobos twice. The Lobo’s 28 home game winning street was snapped in this 28-14 loss. For the first time ever, Lobo head coach John King looses at Lobo stadium. The two-time defending state finalist Longview (1-1) will face the Allen Eagles next week. While the Lions(1-1) matchup up against cross-town foe, Robert E. Lee. “I can’t wait to play them, we will be ready,” said an exuberant JTHS QB, David Bush. “tonights game is going to give us good momentum going into next week.” The TCU commit went on to tell nextlevelathlete.com, “everybody came to play tonight, “Chris (Haggerty) played great he was making catches and tackles in the game. Tristan (Wade) hit everything that came his way” So there you have it, a week 1 that for some will never be forgotten while for others will be locked away as a horrible day in Lobo Land.
