Texas Top 100 Series comes to a close in Dallas…

The Texas Top 100 Showcase Series made it’s final stop in Dallas this last weekend and proved to be an amazing finish. The North Texas region drew some big time talent including; Justin Manning (Dallas Kimball), Dontre Wilson (DeSoto) Quan Jones (Wylie East), Bryan Driskell (McKinney Boyd), Deric Robertson (Killeen), Marchie Murdock (Mansfield) Dylan Cantrell (Whitehouse), Sammy Douglas (Arlington) among many others. Next Level Athlete will begin it’s 2012 Showcase Series on March 4th in the Austin area. It will be an open invitation event and is sure to attract several athletes.

Santos gets second offer…

Klein Collins Linebacker, David Santos, picked up his second offer from Kansas this spring. Based on his evaluation at the NLA Showcase, it will come as no great surprise to see several more colleges jump on the 6ft linebacker. Santos has an instinct for the football and can fill a gap as instinctively as any LB on the scene. Get your hands on David’s highlights and you will see some of the single most spectacular hits made by any linebacker in Texas high school football.

Jared Barnett… Big 12 Bound!

Garland High School quarterback, Jared Barnett, announced that he will be attending Iowa State University next fall. Although Jared received offers from several BCS level colleges, it was Iowa State that was the front runner at the end of the race. ”Overall, Jared simply felt that Iowa State was the best fit, he researched his options and determined that Iowa State would provide the best environment for him to succeed both athletically and academically.” said Duke Barnett, Jared’s father. Iowa State’s 2009 roster balance will prove to be very favorable for Jared as he will be a viable candidate for a back-up roll his true freshman year with an opportunity to compete for the starting job against senior quarterback Austin Arnaud. Jared will be stepping into a fresh program under the direction of first year head coach, Paul Rhodes. ”We absolutely loved the coaching staff at Iowa State and are excited to be apart of the rebuilding of this program” said Barnett. Iowa State will run a zone read style of offense that is perfectly suitable for Jared, as this is an offense very similar to that of Garland High School’s. It was no great surprise to the staff at Next Level Athlete when Jared announced his decision. He was a stand out at both the January 24th Showcase as well as the March 29th Showcase and will certainly find success on the big stage of Big 12 football.
