NLA’s South Texas Top 100 draws some major D1 talent…

Among many others, the South Texas Top 100 attracted two of the nations top recruits in FB-Hightower WR, Bralon Addison and Humble DT, Paul Boyette. Both displayed why they are so highly sought after. “I really enjoyed the Showcase, I felt that this event gave me a chance to get a good workout in and to go against some really good competition, “ said Addison. Other notable performers included Lake Travis WR, Griffin Gilbert, Spring Dekaney DB, Patrick Martin and Lake Travis QB/A, Colin LaGasse.

Santos gets second offer…

Klein Collins Linebacker, David Santos, picked up his second offer from Kansas this spring. Based on his evaluation at the NLA Showcase, it will come as no great surprise to see several more colleges jump on the 6ft linebacker. Santos has an instinct for the football and can fill a gap as instinctively as any LB on the scene. Get your hands on David’s highlights and you will see some of the single most spectacular hits made by any linebacker in Texas high school football.

Fort Bend Elkins DB is heating up…

With offers from Baylor and Rice; Fort Bend Elkins DB, Jaylon Finner, is starting to heat up. Finner displayed great overall athleticism at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in January and impressed the crowd at the Nike training camp at TCU last weekend as well. The upcoming spring should bode well for Jaylon, as seeing him in person will certainly excite several colleges coaches.

Allen linebacker picks up two offers…

One of the most overall impressive linebacker prospects at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in January; Melvin Spears has already picked up two offers. With a looming 6’2” 228lb pound frame, Spears has prototypical Division 1 size at the middle linebacker position. Coupling size with his lateral quickness and explosion and Spears is flat out scary for opposing running backs. Melvin currently has two offers on the table from the University of Minnesota and the University of Iowa. The Spring Evaluation period should pay dividends for Spears as several colleges will certainly take notice of him through at least the infamous “eyeball test.”

Shepherd gets offer from Iowa…

Mesquite Horn wide receiver, JaCorey Shepherd, displayed why he is one the class of 2011’s top wide receiver prospects in the area, when he attended the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in January. Shepherd has excellent body control, runs smooth routes, catches the ball in front of his body and has good speed. Shepherd currently has one offer from Iowa, but as is the case with most class of 2011’s, he should see several more offers roll in once spring football gets underway.
