What’s on the Recruiting Calendar?
Aug. 1 through Nov. 26 is a quiet period, except for six days specified by the college as “evaluation period” days. On these days, the NCAA allows authorized off-campus recruiters to visit a recruit’s school to look at the recruit’s on-field ability and academic qualifications. The scout cannot make in-person contact with the recruit. A college can visit a specific high school only one time during this period. Official visits can be made during this time, this is a great time to schedule official visits because recruits are able to see campus life in full swing as well as watch a game. Colleges typically choose Friday nights for their evaluation days because they are able to evaluate an athlete in a game setting.
